Why Greg Oden over Kevin Durant?

Walking through the streets of Portland and talking to my friends, all I here is Sam Bowie. Back when the Blazcers chose Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan it was what the Blazers needed at the time, we had Clyde Drexler at the time. Sam Bowie ended up being a bust and Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time. Greg Oden should not be compared to Sam Bowie, Oden is a fresh start and and bright future. All is see is Oden, Aldride, and the rookie of the year in the starting line up next year. It will be like David Robinson and Tim Duncan both starting together at age 19, that is a great future for the Blazer. Next season will be a start and a huge step towards a championship caiber team.

I hope so. But it really entertains me how all this talk of a bright future is based on potential greatness, without actual evidence to support it just yet. I don't mean to bring rain to the parade, but I think it is too early to tell... The Blazers are really difficult to trust after all these years of broken promises and bizarre moves.

Greg Oden will not become another Sam Bowie. Oden is a completely different type of center with way more upside to his game, on both ends of the court. I totally agree that the Blazers are clearly on their way to a championship. Look for them to win in 2010. Remember where you heard it first :)

It is alot different than the Sam Bowie draft. In that draft we choose #2 not #1 and the #1. Pick from that draft did win an NBA title, anybody remember Hakeem Olajuwon? I don't think us Blazers fans need to worry about that at all, as in another Sam Bowie.
It is not only the fact that we have Oden, but also laMarcus, Roy, Jack, Outlaw, Webster, etc... We have countless, young talent, that should all peak at the same time in their careers and as long as they are all still Blazers this team will be a fear in the NBA. I for one am really excited and can't wait for the season.
